Belden Launches New Generation Series Of Value-Priced IP Category Cables For Video, Sound And Security Applications

Belden (NYSE: BDC), a world leader in the development of signal transmission solutions for the enterprise, industrial, building management, broadcast, and security markets, announces the expansion of its New Generation cable line with a series of four new IP Category 5e and Category 6 unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cables.

The new cables offer integrated Power over Ethernet in a single cable, eliminating the need for an external power source. They are designed exclusively for use with digital sound, video and security systems to link low-voltage security devices such as security cameras, CCTV, keypads, and intercoms.

The robust value-priced cables enable system designers, integrators and installers to provide their customers with high-quality, reliable sound, video and security systems at a very competitive price point. All four new cables fully meet the ANSI/TIA/EIA-568-B.2-2001 Standard. They are available in both riser- and plenum-rated versions. Belden’s new IP Category Cable products include:

– Belden Part No. 5663U5 – Cat 5e (Riser-rated)
– Belden Part No. 6663U5 – Cat 5e (Plenum-rated)
– Belden Part No. 5663U6 – Cat 6 (Riser-rated)
– Belden Part No. 6663U6 – Cat 6 (Plenum-rated)

The Category 5e cables feature 24 AWG solid bare copper conductors. The riser version has polyolefin insulation and PVC jacket with rip cord. The plenum version has FEP Teflon insulation and Flamarrest® jacket with rip cord. Both cables are sweep tested to 100 MHz.

The Category 6 cables feature solid bare copper conductors. The riser version (24 AWG) has polyolefin insulation and PVC jacket with rip cord. The plenum version (23 AWG) has FEP Teflon insulation and Flamarrest jacket with rip cord. Both cables are sweep tested to 250 MHz.

All four cables are available with Black jackets. Footage is sequentially marked every 2 feet, with countdown from 1,000 to eliminate guesswork and waste.

With the addition of the new value-priced cables, Belden now offers the sound and security industry more cabling options than ever before.

Lanner Electronics, Inc., a leading designer and ODM manufacturer of advanced network video hardware, today announced its participation at the 2009 Secutech Expo, during which it will unveil a new 16-channel all-in-one H.264 encoding video mainboard for digital surveillance and other IP video applications.

The Lanner VM-P016 video encoding mainboard enables network video solution providers to develop applications using a single mainboard for up to 16 channels of H.264 encoded IP video. The VM-P016 mainboard provides 16-channel BNC inputs to enable the creation of hybrid analog/digital video surveillance systems, receiving and converting analog video signal to H.264 encoded digital video at up to Full D1 resolution and 30 frames per second (NTSC) or 25 fps (PAL).

The Secutech Expo is Asia’s premiere exhibition for the surveillance industry, and Lanner will be presenting a range of advanced H.264 network video platforms at the show. Among the highlights of the Lanner exhibit, the VM-P016 combines all of the audio and video inputs required to build a complete network video server with a single mainboard, without the need to add additional video or audio capture cards or H.264 compression hardware.

The VM-P016 includes a Socket LGA775 supporting dual and quad-core Intel Core and Core 2 processors, up to 4GB DDR2 RAM in two DIMM sockets, six SATA II ports, four USB 2.0 ports, a single serial port and dual GbE LAN. Significantly, the VM-P016 supports 16 channel video looping and provides a BNC sequence monitor output for viewing multiple video streams sequentially in real time. RCA TV-Out and S-Video are also included, along with a standard VGA out port. Operating system support includes Windows XP, Ubuntu and Fedora Linux.

The Lanner VM-P016 comes with Lanner’s EyeShot 2000 NVR Control Panel reference software and SDK, which includes RAW data preview, AV encoding, streaming, software decoding, and display functions for alarm I/O, and supports motion detection, video loss detection, night detection, PTZ and alarm functions.

Aside f r o m network video surveillance, target applications include broadcasting, digital signage, Video on Demand, medical video analytics and other video over IP applications.

Lanner will be exhibiting at booth #N905-N908 at Secutech 2009, which runs f r o m April 22-24 at the Taipei World Trade Center Nangang Exhibition Hall. Novuscript, The Leading National Retailer Of Digital Dictation, Transcription And Speech Recognition Solutions Has Changed To American Dictation Corporation

NovuScript, a Carlsbad, California-based national on-line retailer of digital dictation, transcription and speech recognition solutions is now American Dictation Corporation as of October 20, 2008. Bret Williams, President and CEO of American Dictation explained the change, “Given the fact that we have almost 6,000 customers in all 50 states and all U.S. territories, we felt that the company name and marketing efforts should better reflect the scope of our market.”

NovuScript was formed in 2004 as a provider of a Web-based, secure file transfer service for medical transcriptionists. “Very soon we discovered that the digital dictation and transcription market was being grossly under-serviced in terms of on-line offerings and technical expertise,” said Williams. “Once we began marketing digital recorders, transcription equipment and voice-to-print software, we quickly rose to the top of the field.” However, explained Williams, the name “NovuScript” became less indicative of the company’s offerings. American Dictation is a certified dealer of Olympus, Philips and Grundig professional products, as well as a Gold Certified Partner for the Dragon Naturally Speaking line of speech recognition products from Nuance.

Founded and currently operated as a home-based operation in the La Costa area of south Carlsbad, American Dictation is a family affair. Cyndi Williams, Bret’s wife of 28 years, is the operational manager of the company, while Nick, their second of three sons, is a technical support engineer. “As Web engineers since 1995, we wanted to apply our knowledge of on-line e-commerce to a niche industry,” said Cyndi Williams. “It’s been our good fortune to be able to work out of our home, yet help so many people discover the benefits and efficiencies of today’s digital dictation technology.”

American Dictation ships their products from four different distribution centers, located in Phoenix, Detroit, Atlanta and Palm Beach, Florida. By drop-shipping products, American Dictation is able to keep inventory costs very low while still being able to provide same-day shipping to their customers. “We supply some of the largest hospitals and law firms in the USA, as well as individuals, small firms and home-based transcriptionists.” American Dictation Corporation also provides complete technical support via remote computer access. Said Nick Williams, “we can quickly connect to any customer’s computer and help them solve technical issues immediately rather than depending on expensive on-site visits.” Remote technical support further enables American Dictation to serve customers far beyond the Carlsbad area. “We’ve been fortunate to provide products and support to a widely diverse clientele that includes the FBI, State Department, state and local governments, schools, universities, as well as thousands in the private sector.”

Bret Williams said that revenues for 2008, despite economic concerns, should still exceed those of 2007. “We have to continue working to reach our target market,” he commented, “That’s one reason we spent several months and thousands of dollars re-branding our company.”

The new American Dictation Web site can be found at www.AmericanDictation.com.
