MinDCet, FTEX announce the development of the first gallium nitride-driven Dynamic Drive

LEUVEN, Belgium, 16-Nov-2021 — /EPR ELECTRONIC NEWS/ — MinDCet, a leading semiconductor house specializing in power and high-voltage IC design, announced the development of the first GaN-driven Dynamic Drive along with FTEX, the renowned specialist in precision motor control systems using gallium nitride (GaN) transistors.

FTEX develops variable DC bus motor drives for EVs which have been shown to play a significant role in increasing range and power of EV powertrains. However, legacy silicon DC-DC converters are too large to be integrated in an EV powertrain, taking up space otherwise used for batteries. Having the possibility to drastically increase the power density of a DC-DC power converter enables multiple architectures not previously commercially viable.

FTEX finds solutions to these problems by implementing novel topologies and gallium nitride transistors to overcome the size and efficiency issues of variable DC bus powertrains. GaN power transistors have multiple key advantages, such as lower On resistance compared to state-of-the-art silicon equivalents and very sharp commutations that enable high-frequency power conversion and ideal waveform generation. Provided they are designed and driven effectively, this technology can drastically reduce the size of DC-DC converters while maintaining ultra-high-efficiency operation.

FTEX is leaning on the high-performance gallium nitride transistors offered by EPC driven to their full potential thanks to the high-performance MinDCet MDC901 drivers. “With its advanced capabilities and flexibility by design, this single driver can achieve high-performance in various applications, either for power conversion or motor control,” said Alexandre Cosneau, CTO of FTEX. “Exclusive features such as charge pumps, 5V to 6V gate drive voltages, and advanced thermal dissipation allow this driver to get the best out of the EPC GaN transistors, for example. Considering the safety of the power conversion system, a shoot-through event, one of the worst failure scenarios that can occur in a half-bridge, can be greatly prevented by MinDCet’s driver, thanks to its numerous fail-safes.”

The gate driver precision and control directly influence the reliability and efficiency of the system. The gate driver controls the behavior of the half-bridge output, known as the switching node. By generating a near perfect waveform at the switching node, harmonics within the magnetic elements are minimized, resulting in very low losses. These harmonics arise from the over-/under-shoots and their subsequent ringing during commutation transitions, where harmonics are simply wasted energy and damage the circuitry over time. “Driving GaN transistors in a robust and reliable way requires a specifically developed gate driver,” explained Jef Thoné, CTO at MinDCet. “You want to maintain a perfect gate voltage control under high slew-rate conditions to ensure a long lifetime for your GaN power stage.”

The combination of EPC GaNs and the MinDCet driver allows FTEX to effectively use its expertise to design and implement high-performance algorithms and control methods to deliver a DC-DC converter with up to three times the power density compared to the existing state-of-the-art. The result is the FTEX Dynamic Drive, a high-performance, ultra-compact, variable DC bus motor drive that has been shown to provide up to 30% more range and power in a commercially viable, cost effective solution.

New product launch: TechTable Pty Ltd announces the release of their flagship multi award winning product “TechTable” in the United States

DELIVERING ADVANCED SAFETY AND INCREASED PRODUCTIVITY TO THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS INDUSTRY.

Sydney, Australia, October 28, 2014 — /EPR ELECTRONICS NEWS/ — The award-winning TechTable was officially launched in the US at the BICSI Fall conference and provides a portable, lightweight and sturdy work surface for communications technicians to safely and efficiently terminate fibre optic and copper communications cabling.

Installers of highly complex cabling projects have seen rapid advances and developments in termination technologies however there have been very little improvements in the cluttered and uncomfortable work environments.

By using the TechTable, installers can now perform tasks at waist height and easily rotate between standing and seated positions. The platform is height adjustable, stable and comfortable and allows technicians to temporarily mount a patch panels and components onto the table for faster loading, termination consistency and improved accuracy.

David McHarg, Managing Director of TechTable Pty Ltd commented “Installers are faced with fairly primitive working conditions, meaning that neck, shoulder and back pain is not uncommon. Often technicians sit on milk crates, or in the cabinet, and are squeezed into a confined spaces for hours at a time, I couldn’t help but think there must be a better way.”

After much of his own research, David formed a team consisting of OHS consultant Glenda Snoxall, ACT Safety Regulator and Ergonomist Richard Siddell and Peter McKay of Industrious Design to develop a solution. Following an in-depth risk assessment and report in accordance with the code of practice for the prevention of Musclo-Skeletal disorders 2007 the TechTable was designed to address the key features required from a health and safety aspect and ensured compliance with this code of practice.

Prior to commercial release, The TechTable was trialled by a number of communications and electrical service companies with feedback indicating that it not only offered a much more comfortable position than traditional installation methods, but also delivered far greater accuracy and speed. Testing also identified that manual handling risks were either eliminated or reduced, and the installer’s productivity was increased by up to 24%.
The TechTable is designed for easy daily transport inside a padded carry bag and the set-up time is less than one minute. The dimensions are designed to suit tight-fit positions in cluttered computer rack environments, telecommunications rooms and data centres.

Currently the Tech table is used throughout Australia and has successfully launched in the US. For more information, including product specifications and OHS/WHS data, visit TechTable (http://www.techtable.co)

Montana Instruments Corporation announces the Cryostation Microscope, for high magnification physics experiments at 3 Kelvin!

Montana Instruments Corporation (Bozeman, MT), the world’s leading manufacturer of automated optical cryostats, announces the addition of the Microscope option to its closed cycle cryostat, the Cryostationâ„¢. Many low temperature material science experiments require high magnification optics to image the sample surface. Historically, this research has been limited to using objectives outside the vacuum space of the cryostats and dealing with the distortions of the vacuum window. This innovation allows user to position high quality optics near their sample without any intervening windows.

The system uses a 100X Zeiss quality objective with a working distance of 310 microns and a numerical aperture of 0.9, and can be outfitted with almost any vacuum compatible microscope objective.

A previous barrier to putting high quality objectives in the vacuum space of a low temperature system is that as a lens cools, its individual optical elements change shape, the optical performance degrades, and the lens may even crack. In order to prevent this damaging distortion, and to preserve the optical quality, a patent pending design maintains the lens at room temperature. By mounting the objective inside the temperature stabilized sample chamber, once the system reaches the target temperature, any drift due to temperature changes is eliminated.

The Cryostation has become a reliable workhorse for the low temperature research community. As a closed cycle cryostat, it doesn’t require costly helium for cooling, but uses a reliable refrigeration cycle cryocooler. The system is best known for its low vibrations of less than 5nm and its rock solid temperature stability of less than 10mK. Researchers appreciate the ease of access to their samples under test, both for setup and for optical access.

Pioneers in the world of cold science automation, Montana Instruments designs, manufactures, and supports cryostat systems around the world. Visit the company’s website at www.montanainstruments.com.

Lamp Post Electrical Supply The Best Of Stainless Steel Electrical Fittings

Lamp Post Electrical are pleased to supply electrical fitting of every shape and requirement for the electrical market place but it is particularly pleased to be able to supply the Nexus range of stainless steel switches and sockets for the household and commercial building electrical supply fittings. Stainless steel has many advantages over other materials and the Nexus range has given Lamp Post Electrical one of the best looking as well as one of the highest quality ranges of electrical fittings on the market today. The electrical engineer can be very happy to work with this range as it produces an excellent finish wherever it is used and they can be assured that the electrical integrity of the usage will be the typical top quality product produced by the Nexus range. The Nexus range of electrical switches and sockets are produced by BG which is one of the best United Kingdom manufacturers of electrical goods in the World with a history that goes back a long way. It is this vast experience that has produced such a fine range of electrical equipment for installation on a new build or a rewire of an existing building.

Lamp Post Electrical is also pleased to note the stainless steel range of Nexus electrical switches and sockets comes under the decorative range of electrical equipment and that this statement alone shows a change that has occurred over the past few years in the field of electrical fittings. The change to decorative fittings has come about with the ability to make metal clad switches and sockets securely and safely without any fear of electrocution or electrical shock. Up until this time the amount of decorative switches and sockets in comparison to the standard safety insulated switch or socket was very small, but now there is a vast array of electrical decorative fittings and there are very many more options open to the end user. Invariably in time gone by the only times electrical switches were changed was on a rewire operation but now Lamp Post Electrical notes that it is quite usual for a change of all electrical switches and sockets to be made throughout the building on a purely decorative or design change in the appearance of the building. This is driven heavily by interior design magazines and TV.

Lamp Post Electrical is delighted with the appearance of the Nexus Stainless Steel range of equipment, which has a sleek finish with a very slim stainless cover with rounded corners. All switches are of the typical metal faced, insulated rocker design but the rocker is a gently curved design, which looks good and operates efficiently and provides no opportunity of any ligature. The advantage of this range is that it can be used in a residential or commercial operation and will look equally good in both. Lamp Post Electrical - http://www.lamppostelectrical.co.uk – is pleased to note that at the present time the price of this range of electrical fittings is very low and the prices for a complete change of electrical switches and sockets throughout a property is quite affordable.

If Lamp Post are given the specification MK will design the consumer unit to meet that specification and build it especially within the day for supply by Lamp Post Electrical Supplies the next day. The consumer unit normally requires tailoring to the needs of each individual residence and whilst there are ways in which this can be done just to cover the regulations there are a great number of advantages in setting the systems so that they meet the users exact requirements.

Lamp Post Electrical Supplies can supply excellent advice along with a full range of equipment in the MK Electric Consumer unit range and they are proud to represent one of the major manufacturers of the electrical protection and power distribution systems. The MK K7666SP 17th edition consumer unit is a basic unit but the consumer unit can be used as a standard system with a dual RCD protection system covering a full range of MCBs but it is often better if some of the outlets are covered in different ways and Lamp Post Electrical Supplies can assist with all the requirements.

There is a superb range of MK Electric RCD systems that range from block units to individual circuit units. There are a range of RCBO units which usually control just one circuit. This is ideal for consumer units where the household or office want total protection but it really is essential for the individual circuits, which provide power to the safety or certain essential services. This is usually circuits such as fire and burglar alarms and equipment like freezers and refrigerators, which require secure power supplies wherever possible. There are RCBOs which can turn off with say a power cut and not turn back on when power is restored but in most cases these should be avoided in favour of the type that restore power to the circuit when power returns. There is also a range of DIN rail mounted time switches that can be fitted to meet specific remote power requirements.

Lamp Post Electrical Supplies is pleased to supply any of the MK range and if the item is not on the web site an email or a telephone call will resolve the problem.

Lamp Post Electrical Switch From A Distance

Lamp Post Electrical have realised that one of the fastest growing areas of electrical control is that of the wireless electrical control systems and are pleased to promote the Wisedim Kit – A 4 Channel dimmable wireless switching system. Wireless switching systems are likely to become a major force in the home and in industry over the next few years as the different option become more obvious and the market develops the switches and controls, which will accept a wireless control signal. The Wisebox switching system can already control switching of lights, garage doors and water features as well as a host of other options around the home and garden and Lamp Post Electrical has been very pleased with their supply of this item and the Wisedim Kit is a good extension of the market range.

The Wisedim Kit is as the name suggests a wireless dimmer system and contains a receiver that uses 4 channels each independent of the next and rated at 700 watt each, which are all capable of dimming a separate lighting circuit. The kit is easy to install and can therefore act as the perfect replacement to your traditional dimmer switches around the home. The system has the ability to remember the previous setting so when switched on again will return the lighting system to the previous levels of light. The system can also be used as a switching system on any of the independent channels so that it can be used with LED or fluorescent lighting fittings, which are not dimmable. Lamp Post Electrical has been particularly pleased with the remote key fob which is used to control the system as this is easy to carry and very easy to operate and has the back up of a wall mounted switch with seven switches of which four operate the individual circuits and the other three work on the functions of two circuits on, four circuits on or all circuits off.

Lamp Post Electrical have noted that the wisebox kits allow a simple dimming system that can be operated from the comfort of the armchair and will allow a completely different approach to lighting within the home. This system now allows the user to use light as a decoration as well as a system of being able to see what you are doing. Certainly the system can be changed from a reading lighting requirement to a comfortable level for listening to music or watching the TV but now it is possible to use coloured lights to paint the room so that the ambience meets the time of the day or the mood of the user. This may sound a little strange but a person’s mood changes during the day and it has been found that the strong active lighting systems that match the early morning activeness recedes during the day as the person’s body prepares for rest and the lighting systems change accordingly then Wisedim allows this to be achieved from the armchair.

Lamp Post Electrical have been delighted with the Wisedim system and encourages the reader to look at their web site to get a full view of the system and if there are any queries to send them an email or give them a call and work out just what can be achieved.

Stainless Steel Gets Switched On With The Electrical Counter

The market for electrical switches and sockets grows larger each day and it is now a possible to change the appearance of the electrical service systems within a house or office regularly without breaking the bank. Electrical Counter has developed a full market range of switches and sockets to meet what is likely to be an ever increasing market place. The company has developed their Internet marketing system to be able to supply the fullest range of electrical equipment at a moment’s notice off the shelf and Electrical Counter is pleased to be able to meet almost all requirements at a time to suit the customer. The electrical market demands instant attention with orders required tomorrow and quality of the highest order and safety standards to match. Electrical Counter can deal with all of these as a matter of routine and has also been able to develop prices which match any company and are usually cheaper. Some of the latest prices for switches and sockets are only 30% of what they were a short time ago.

The Stainless Steel range is one of the ranges that have gained from this reduction in prices and Electrical Counter is pleased to have been able to negotiate with their manufacturer’s rates, which are a great advantage to the industry, the customer and the supplier. The stainless steel ranges are quite interesting and do give a completely new outlook on the design and installation of the electrical service systems. The stainless can be of a brushed steel type of finish which looks good and lasts particularly well, it handles well and the fitting is easy and there is even a range of screwless face plates which have nothing to break the face plate but the rounded switch toggle. There is also stainless steel of a semi polished or plain finish, which again look good and provide a different appearance. The brushed steel switches are particularly good for their resilience as they will last for a long time without any deterioration. The attributes of stainless steel are many and obvious and now metals can be used safely in switches and sockets the options are endless.

Electrical Counter considers the stainless steel range as ideal for the office and workplace as the finished effect goes particularly well with the latest designs of the modern office. The Nexus Metal switches and sockets fit well into the dado rail system which allows the service to be placed just where required for easy access and shortest cable links. Appearance is everything these days and the quickest way to change the appearance in a building is to change the fitments that are present. The electrical service fitments from switches and sockets to data and telephone points are easy to change and these will make a great deal of difference to the overall view of the building. No decorating is required and the whole operation will be carried out in a very limited time but the results can be present for years to come.

Lamp Post Electrical Has The Gate Opening Answer

Lamp Post Electrical now stock the excellent Came range of electric gate opening systems, which have made such an impression on the market place. These units are of excellent quality and allow the house entry gates to be used instead of being an ever open adornment to the property. Lamp Post Electrical is particularly pleased to be able to supply the Came Frog AE-P24 Kit which offers the complete underground fitting kit for a pair of swing gates. This particular unit offers the ability to open a pair of gates up to 3.5 metre wide for each leaf using a 24v DC motor. The easy opening and closing of gates ensures maximum usage and they will always be kept closed which gives security within the property and privacy as the front garden can in many cases now become an area which can be used without being
overlooked.

Lamp Post Electrical are delighted with the operational system of the Came electric gates and the silent running of the gates when opening and closing them is such that there is no possible annoyance to the family or neighbours. The Came Frog AE-P24 Kit is an underground kit which means that the swinging operating units are fitted into the ground at the outside end of each gate and the gate is mounted on top of the unit. The advantage of this is that the unit is particularly neat and tidy in its appearance or perhaps that should be non-appearance as all the operating mechanism is below ground and a flat top plate to the unit is all that is visible to the outside world. This installation provides the basis for a good reliable set up which will last for years.

Gate operation takes about 16 seconds so that it is slow enough for pedestrians to get out of the way although there is obvious safety cut outs if there is a problem and also release mechanisms if required. The typical opening is 90 degrees but this can be extended to 130 degrees with a suitable adaption of electronics and mechanism. The system is a robust one and the gate mechanisms can support gates up to a weight of 400kg for each leaf of the gate, which allows the installation of some very substantial gates.

Lamp Post Electrical - http://www.lamppostelectrical.co.uk – have worked hard to get the range right and Came are an excellent company who provide a good quality product which has been greatly enhanced by the Frog electronic control systems. The advantages of the operation of the Came Frog system of underground fitted gates is that they can be used from a distance to open and close them at will with the Came gate remote, which is ideal for the car driver arriving or leaving the premises.

It also allows the home owner to let in visitors from inside the house either by car with a double gate opening or by pedestrian access with a single gate opening. Lamp Post Electrical is proud to be able to stock such an excellent range of products, which will enhance any property to which they are installed.

The Electrical Counter Promote The Advantages Of Elnur Storage Heaters

The Electrical Counter have built up an excellent range of products to be supplied directly via the internet from their excellent web site, the base of the business is as the name suggests, anything that the electrical trade might require usually, off the shelf. If the product required is not obvious on the web site then an excellent call service will establish whether and when it can be delivered. This is certainly the case with the Elnur Storage Heaters, which The Electrical Counter company is very pleased to supply from its standard in-stock store. This resurgent business in storage heaters has developed because of the inspired development of the latest Elnur Storage Heaters. These Elnur Storage Heaters are now very efficient in energy usage from a low cost electrical source and they come in a range of sizes from 1.7KW to 3.4 KW power rating and also in a range of manual or automatic controls.

The Elnur Storage Heaters are of a superb slim line design that fit very well in any standard room and the small size of the units mean that they do not take up the whole of the wall space. The controls are easily accessible and the units acne work as a stand-alone unit or fixed to link in with other storage heaters as part of a fully controlled central heating system. The Electrical Counter is delighted with the quality of the Storage Heaters and the complete range of manual and automatic units that are available which enable the installer such a wide range of options. The safety systems are such that the Storage Heaters have automatic safety power cut outs when the grills, where the heat is released, are covered with clothes or other items. The Electrical Counter supply Storage Heaters where there is an automatic control system on the heat input to the heat sink so that just the right amount of heat is input into the storage heater for later usage. Elnur have developed the range of Storage Heaters to meet all occasions and the sophistication levels are now so good that they heat input on the best units is controlled so that it takes account of the weather so that heat is not wasted in periods of warm weather or left short in periods of excessive cold. If this is added to a full central control system the maximum flexibility in heating control is possible, Hyco Water Heaters are also another great addition to the system in order to maximise your homes overall efficiency.

The Electrical Counter is pleased to note that these units fit extremely well in conditions where there is a surfeit of electrical power from a solar panel system where the daytime electricity is basically the property of the householder during the day and hence is free.

The market is ever increasing and the boiler fuel systems are not only suffering price rises from the energy suppliers but things like gas checks are now advised annually for house owners and are imposed by law on the house rental business. The Electrical Counter notes that the costs of each system when all the equipment costs, energy costs and service costs are taken into account are very close. The Electrical Counter welcomes any enquiries on the use of Elnur Storage Heaters.

Hand Drying From Electrical Counters

The electrical fan hand dryer has become a standard piece of equipment in most public bathrooms and washrooms and there is an ever increasing array of products and it is very important to get the right one for the job in hand. The Electrical Counter are supplying some excellent systems from Hyco, which do a great job at a very reasonable price. There have been many discussions and surveys on the use of the hand dryer and comparisons are still made between using paper towels or a mechanised dryer in order to dry people’s hands in public places. The good and bad parts of the hand dryer usage are wrapped in a few main areas. The first is a cost item as a busy washroom can use a mammoth amount of paper towels in a day and these cost thousands of pounds a year as people tend to use them wastefully and abundantly and the overall cost of a Hyco hand dryer from Electrical Counter is very much lower with costs in the region of £15 per annum and there are some great reductions in the purchase price with some of the best of today’s offers.

This reduction in cost makes the Hyco hand dryer unit invaluable. In terms of the environment studies base the use of paper towels and hand dryers as being roughly comparable with each other which sounds surprising at the start but towels are easily made from replaceable sources and do decay when used or can be recycled and electrical energy is quite high for the drying process. In terms of hygiene the paper towel is still slightly better as the hand dryer tends to blow the germs around rather than be wiped off with the towel. The discussion on this topic goes on but it is generally viewed that this is still small in comparison with the cost advantages and the cleanliness that the system brings to a washroom rather than the paper towel chase across the washroom floor. Electrical Counter have aimed to choose the best units which not only do the job but look good and are compact enough not to take over the washroom and that these units will reduce the costs of the initial spend and also provide the best and safest hand dryers that are available.

One of the newer hand dryer systems is the Hyco Jetstream system which counteracts most of the problems mentioned above by using a concentrated Jetstream of air at a velocity of some 250 miles per hour which dries the hands within 10 seconds, the hands can be seen by the introduction of an LED lighting system that illuminates the hands. This results in a very low energy usage from a low 1.5 Kw heater and the use of a very short working time. It is this short time that reduces bacteria spread and keeps the environmental consideration to a very low level and the cost savings over the paper towel or the cloth laundered towel systems are exceptionally good. Electrical Counter will advise on which system will give both the cheapest operation and the least environmental or hygiene considerations.
