Lamp Post Electrical Supplies Light Up With Wylex Consumer Units

Lamp Post Electrical Supplies now stock a fantastic range of electrical goods for supply to the power distribution business and the Wylex range of products are great example of just how good that range is. Wylex are particularly noted for their range of high class consumer units and the quality belies the fact that they are extremely competitively priced and of a major significance to the market place. Lamp Post Electrical Supplies can supply the full range of Wylex consumer units and if the user cannot find what is required on the internet then a simple phone call to the company will get the full details of the range of the products and also give a delivery date. Invariably the products can be supplied off the shelf.

The Wylex consumer units are extremely well made and the choice of units is almost too large but this market place is difficult as there are so many different requirements and Wylex and Lamp Post Electrical Supplies are pleased to be able to supply all the differing needs.

One of the most pleasing things from the point of view of Lamp Post Electrical Supplies is that the Wylex consumer units now have so much versatility built into them. All of the Wylex consumer units conform to the 17th Edition regulations and all new consumer units are fitted to these regulations but Wylex have moved on and offer the user the ability to introduce a far greater degree of protection than the regulations require. The Wylex consumer units can be either a split load system where certain circuits are ganged together with each gang to be protected by a Residual Current Device (RCD) or they can be individually protected circuits with an RCD on each or more preferably a Residual Current Breaker with Overload Protection (RCBO) micro circuit breaker on each circuit. The RCD protects against current leakage to earth and the RCBO protects against current leakage to earth and also overcurrent conditions as well. The idea that every circuit is individually protected by an RCBO is something that Lamp Post Electrical –http://www.lamppostelectrical.co.uk – is very keen to promote. The savings in injury and death from electrocution cannot be underestimated and is worth the effort and expense, although the expense is not at all large.

Lamp Post Now Stock Full In-Line Manrose Extractor Fan Range

Lamp Post Electrical supply all electrical equipment for the power circuits of the house and office and the Internet has allowed them to build a great business, which supplies the market at prices which are well below those of the standard retail outlets. Their typical website is both informative and descriptive so that a good idea of the product can be quickly gained. Any further information can be gained by e-mail or phone. The delivery service is what the customer wants it to be, but Lamp Post Electrical prides themselves on getting the goods quickly and safely to the customer.

The extraction fan business has become more and more complex over the years as the pollution rules and regulations have become stronger and this will change still further in the next few years as environmental and social conditions become stricter. The rules on extraction fans for the bathroom and washroom areas have always been strict because of the danger of water and electricity mixing and passing electrical currents to earth. The introduction of the 17th edition RCD controlled circuits has helped matters, but most installations still use off site extractor pumps to get rid of the unwanted steam and smells.

Lamp Post Electrical have supplied the Manrose CFD200T in line extractor fan for some time and it is a very reliable piece of equipment. The pump works on a typical 4 inch diameter extraction tube that connects to the waste exit of the bathroom to the extraction fan itself. The power of the extractor fan is such that it extracts some 85 cubic metres per hour very quietly and continuously. The fan is fitted in lime and into the line and extraction is not a problem as it will deal with all the typical problems that bathroom extractor fans may have during their normal operation. It should clear away all steam developed by the shower or the bath and leave the room dry, it will also remove obnoxious smells.

Lamp Post Electrical supply all the fittings and fixtures for the operation and the only real problem is where to fix the extractor fan into its final position as this obviously needs to be outside the bathroom. It can be fitted below the floor or above the ceiling but there will be a need for a suitably sized space and also the requirements in the case of an emergency so that future access may be possible to repair or replace easily. All that then remains is a suitable access for the extracted gases to be passed outside of the building through a tube and grill. If there are no suitable access routes then there are some extractor fans which can work in the bathroom or wash room environment without the need for the ultimate protection but these must be mounted so that they cannot be reached when standing in the bath or shower.

Manrose Centrifugal Extractor Fans Provide A Lamp Post Electrical Supplies Stalwart

Manrose are a company with a good history record in supplying everyday fans for the business and household market place and Lamp Post Electrical Supplies are delighted to keep stocking one of the stalwarts of the extraction fan markets in order to supply this ever changing market place. The Manrose centrifugal fan range has almost become a standard as it is able to deal with waste gases and extraction smells produced in the appropriate places. The centrifugal fan is the major part of this design with a central motor and controller which is built with fans with totally sealed bearing sets which require zero maintenance and bearing supports which last a long time. The centrifugal fan is basically a workhorse of the commercial or household market providing a strong fan which will operate continuously and effectively over many years. The areas where they come into their own are the commercial kitchen where vast quantities of waste gases need to be extracted (although there are smaller areas where they are equally useful).

Manrose Extractor Fans are recommended by Lamp Post Electrical Supplies as it is designed to aid and work effectively in pushing waste gases over long distances without a severe loss of pressure and therefore a loss of effective waste gas removal. They are very good at overcoming the pressure restrictions that have by nature been built into bends and grilles that may be inserted over the trunking range without serious reduction in pressure. This is particularly useful in some of the most modern commercial kitchens where the waste gas source is easy to pinpoint but the gases have then to be moved over long distances to extract then from the room. The reasons they have to be moved so far can be many but the usual reasons are that care must be taken not to remove the kitchen smells and then pump them straight outside the room where people are working or where they can percolate into a neighbouring house and remove the problem from one place to a neighbouring area. A failure in this region can bring problems resulting arguments with neighbours and potential guests or even prosecution by the local government officials. Any good workhorse requires a good working life and the Manrose pump has a normal working life of around 40,000 hours, obviously for Lamp Post Electrical Supplies replacement of kitchen extractor fans will not occur overnight but there is an ever increasing market place.

The centrifugal fan is a system that works well from small fans to the very large fans and they are extremely quiet in operation with virtually no vibration problems because of the centrally balanced motor. The smaller fans are aimed at the smaller markets and are aimed at bathrooms and toilets as well as small household kitchens where waste gas extraction is required.

Lamp Post Electrical Supplies - http://www.lamppostelectrical.co.uk – are proud to stock a full range of Manrose fans which can be delivered swiftly and effectively to repair breakdowns or deal with pressing problems and will be pleased to offer advice as and when required.

The Ultimate On Wall Cabling Solutions

Do you hate all of the cables that having computer equipment in your office unfortunately entails? Maybe you have moved in to an office and never really got around to tidying everything up and all of your cables are still in a mess several months later. Or it might be that you are thinking about moving offices soon.

If any of the above applies to you then maybe it is time that you spoke to the Lamp Post Electrical Supplies Company about your cable management. They are an electrical wholesaler with over 16 years experience in this area, so if you are fed up of cables being all over the floor, or rammed in behind desks then maybe you should look at what cable solutions are available to help sort out the mess you are in.

Installing Dado Trunking is one of the easiest ways to go about tidying up your power, telephone and computer cables. Modern Dado Trunking systems cater for all three. Lamp Post Electrical Supplies have experts in this field who will be able to help you establish not just how much Dado Trunking you need but also how many outlet boxes, corner pieces and connecting pieces you will need to install it correctly.

Dado Trunking is also the ideal solution should you have a room that you wish to use as an office that has solid walls, which would otherwise make the addition of power sockets and computer cabling very expensive if the walls need channelling and replastering. Lamp Post Electrical supply the tried and trusted ‘Starline’ Dado Trunking, which can be easily surface mounted to any such solid wall, and can be used to provide power, phone and PC connections wherever you need them to be. The Dado Trunking is plastic and the outlet sockets can thus be easily inserted into it wherever you need them to be. It is the cheapest solution for cabling problems if you have solid walls.

Lamp Post Electrical Supplies supply and recommend Starline Dado Trunking for both its high quality finish, cost and ease of installation.

If your cables are in a mess then Lamp Post Electrical Supplies trunking experts will be able to advise on how it can be used to safely provide power outlets, telephone points and RJ45 connections for PC’s and leave no cables in sight other than those going to the sockets. Dado trunking really does make for a safer working environment, enabling you to immediately shut the power down in the event of a problem. No more fumbling under a desk frantically trying to find which plug to pull out to cut the power to the shredder off as an example.

Lastly just remember that badly managed cables are the source of nothing but problems with it being a nightmare to find out which power cable leads to which PC and which telephone socket connects to which phone. So speak to Lamp Post Electrical Suppliestrunking specialists today to see how their innovative Dado Trunking solutions can help you sort out your cabling problems.

Safety Improvements Required For Home Electrics

It is interesting to note that in a University electrical laboratory students are limited to dealing with 50v and 3A maximum, yet we are allowed free to use 240v and 13A with virtually no restrictions at home.

So one would question why all new dwellings have to have modern consumer units fitted by law, and older houses do not? Time for a change maybe?

Well you do not have to wait for the law to change as getting your old fuse box changed for a consumer unit is a very straight forwards job for a competent electrician, and should take them less than a day to fit.

If you have just bought an older property then changing an old fuse box over should be your first priority, particularly if you are going to be doing a lot of refurbishment, which may put a higher than normal load on the electrical system.

Firstly there is the safety aspect with regards to electrocution, a modern consumer unit features Residual Current Devices (RCD’s) that sense any current imbalance between the positive and neutral conductors, such as you drilling through the live cable in a wall. The beauty of them is that they sense this imbalance in milliseconds, and cut out the power before it has had chance to electrocute you. This alone for me is a good enough reason for anyone to replace their fuse box as soon as possible.

Secondly unlike a fuse box, the modern units have mini-circuit breakers that do not blow out like a fuse but just trip out, and unlike a fuse they can be instantly re-switched on by flicking the breaker back up. This means goodbye to trying to find the right grade fuse wire in the dark, and no more running out of the right grade of fuse wire full stop.

They can also be fitted with Residual Current Circuit Breakers with Overload protection (RCBO’s), which also sense current overload. Whilst the fitment of RCD’s in new boxes is mandatory, the next logical progression would be for RCBO’s to also be made mandatory to fit.

Also the safety benefits in replacing an older fuse box with a new consumer unit far outweigh the cost of fitting, particularly with new eight way units starting from as low as £35 plus the cost of the RCD’s and Mini-Breakers.

By fitting a new consumer unit you greatly de-risk being electrocuted or having an electrical fire, so do it today before it is too late.

Class Portfolio of Laser Sources at Fabtech 2011

Coherent Inc. (Santa Clara, CA) (Nasdaq: COHR) showcased it’s new kilowatt class portfolio of laser sources at the Fabtech 2011 trade show held last month in Chicago, IL. The company updated its three-pronged kilowatt class strategy addressing the high power materials processing market, which includes laser cutting, welding, cladding and heat treating applications.

The company presented at the show a kilowatt version of its highly reliable, E-Series CO2 lasers called the DIAMOND E-1000. The DIAMOND E-1000 is a compact design that is up to 80% smaller than competitive offerings, requires no consumables and has been shown to cut metals at similar speeds as lasers with twice the power. In addition to saving space, the compact design allows the DIAMOND E-1000 to be mounted on a robot, eliminating the need for fiber delivery systems.

The DIAMOND E-1000 is joined by the Highlight 8000D, a kilowatt class direct-diode system, which was introduced in June 2011 during Laser Munich trade show. The HighLight 8000D features output powers up to 8 kW and is the most powerful, industrial, direct-diode laser system currently available with smart free space beam delivery – providing high power light in the shape and distance required by the application. With systems already deployed in the cladding market, HighLight 8000D enables the largest area at the highest deposition rate currently available.

Completing the three-pronged kilowatt class strategy is Coherent’s HighLight 1000FL fiber laser. This will be the first product in an OEM-focused kW to multi-kW fiber platform. It utilizes Coherent diode bars in a single step pump aggregation without service incompatible splices or gratings – all coupled into a 50 μm fiber delivery. This uniquely, simple architecture is more feedback resistant and is modular in design to enable future serviceability. The HighLight 1000FL is primarily targeted at cutting and welding of metals, such as mild and stainless steels, copper, aluminum, brass, titanium, and aluminum-magnesium.

The three kilowatt class strategy ensures that any material or process can be achieved using either CO2 lasers, direct-diode systems, or fiber lasers – all from Coherent.

Founded in 1966, Coherent, Inc. is a world leader in providing photonics based solutions to the commercial and scientific research markets and part of the Russell 2000. Please direct any questions to Frank Gaebler, Segment Marketing Director at 408-764-4000.
